NCSS C3 Framework for Social Studies: D1.1-4, D2.His.1-6, D3.1-2, D4.1-6.

Learning Objective(s):
By the end of the lesson, students will be able to explain why people immigrate to the United
States and how their experiences shape their cultural identity. Students will share their
understanding through a group presentation using at least two sources, aiming for a 3 out of 4 on
a rubric assessing clarity and use of evidence.



Materials

• Printed excerpts from immigration stories (e.g., Ellis Island oral histories, Scholastic Kids
Press)
• Chart paper, markers

• Presentation rubric



Technology Students will use Google Slides or Jamboard to work together in groups to present
their learning. The teacher will model how to organize information and cite sources using these
tools.
