Impact of Drugs on the Brain Paper

Drugs of every conceivable type are now much more accessible than they were even a

generation ago. It is common knowledge that many people, from adolescents to adults, have

experimented with drugs. Nicotine has recently become very popular and has swept the world.

Nicotine addicts can choose from a variety of vaping devices to satisfy their habit. This essay

will explore the nature of nicotine, its impact on the brain, the senses, perceptual processes, and

state of mind, and how chronic use can lead to addiction.

Nicotine Description

Nicotine is a powerful stimulant that can quickly become addictive. Stimulant medicines

are those that quicken the rate at which the brain relays commands to the rest of the body. A

person who takes a stimulant drug may experience an increase in alertness, energy, and

wakefulness. The buzz that nicotine addicts experience is similar to that of being high. The

person's heart rate and blood pressure drastically increase as well as the development of

sleeplessness, have all been linked to the use of this medicine (Nicotine, 2022). Nicotine can be

obtained through tobacco use or electronic cigarette use. This medicine is often consumed by

inhaling a vapor, which has several issues within itself. Although these electronic cigarettes

have been around since 1930, they have only recently become a major trend. Numerous studies

have shown that nicotine can increase a person's risk of developing serious illnesses such as

heart disease, COPD, and cancer (Nicotine, 2022). The use of these nicotine-infused devices

comes with the potential of serious injury to the lungs of the user. However, this is not the end

of nicotine's influence; the drug also has psychological consequences.
