Cell Structure Worksheet BSCI170, Fall 2024
We will be exploring a number of different processes during the semester, and we will learn that
each process occurs in a particular place within a cell (hey, that's a Big Idea: Structure-Function
Relationships!). You will be expected to recognize the appropriate structure where you will find a
process in a diagram of a bacteria, animal, or plant cell.

Part 1. The Cell Comparison Table
Using information from lecture, your textbook, and the Crash Course videos "Eukaryopolis" and
"Plant Cells," complete the cell comparison table below.
• For each cell type put "yes" if you would expect it to generally have the structure listed.
(If not not sure, put "maybe")

Structure Prokaryotes? Animals? Plants?
A Cell membrane
B Cytoplasm
C DNA
D Ribosome
E Nuclear envelope
F Smooth endoplasmic reticulum
G Rough endoplasmic reticulum
H Golgi apparatus
I Vesicle
J Mitochondria
K Chloroplast
L Central vacuole
M Cell Wall

in the endomembrane system components - name at least three.
