listings and search for “behavioral health” jobs in your local area.
Choose at least two job listings to discuss. What are the minimum
requirements for these jobs? What are the roles and responsibilities
involved for each job? Would you be interested in these careers? Why
or why not?
Hello class and professor,
The first job listing I picked is for a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. The minimum
requirements are that you must hold a clinical license at a mater's level for
social work, have basic Microsoft and EMR systems experience, have good
communication skills, and experience working with people from other
specializations (Deer Oaks, 30+ days ago). The job description is that the
professional works together with other behavioral health professionals in a
long-term care center to give psychological treatment to improve their
client's life (Deer Oaks, 30+ days ago). The second job listing I picked is for a
Clinical Counselor. The minimum requirements are to have one of the
following licenses: LCSW, LMFT, LPC, or Licensed Clinical Psychologist
(Thriveworks, 17 days ago). The job description is that the professional
provides counseling to clients in telehealth and face-to-face sessions to help
clients be successful and happy (Thriveworks, 17 days ago).
I am interested in becoming a counselor as a stepping stone to becoming a
psychologist so the Clinical Counselor position definitely spiked some
interest. I personally do not think I could be a social worker, especially since
they work with more emotionally taxing issues like adopting or foster care or
neglect/abuse and getting people out of those situations. I think I would get
too burned out and take too much of it home with me.

A major component of client advocacy in the behavioral health field
involves increasing empowerment within our clients. What are two or
three techniques or methods that we can use to increase client
empowerment? Explain how these techniques or methods can increase
the empowerment within our clients.
Hello class and professor,
I think professionals can do many things to help a client feel empowered,
and in my mind as long as that client is not causing harm to anyone then the
professional should give every opportunity to make a client feel empowered. I
also think that empowerment might look slightly different depending on who
you are working with, for example you might not empower a child the same
way you would an adult. So for starters, we can give clients the means to
make decisions (What Is Empowerment? - Principles for Effective Support,
n.d.). By doing this they have control as well as the professional's support and
will feel better about things they have to decide on. We can also make sure
that we are respectful and not judging the client (What Is Empowerment? -
Principles for Effective Support, n.d.). By watching how we interact with the
client to make sure we are not coming across as judgmental and are being
respectful will empower the client to open up more and take more control over
their mental health. Lastly, I think that discussing with the client what they
think would be success and helping them make obtainable goals can also
empower them because a lot of human nature revolves around feeling good
and successful, so being able to reach goals would give that good feeling.

First, care coordination is organizing patients care by giving information to other
providers of the patient with the goal of giving the patient better care
(SAMHSA, 2022). Looking at google for examples of these forms, most of them
