What are some of the main benefits of integrated health models? How
do integrated health care models allow for treatment of clients in a
more holistic manner?

Hello class and professor,

The United States does not currently focus on integrated health care models,
but is slowly moving towards them. One version of this model is the PCMH,
or Patient- Centered Medical Home, which focuses on giving the best quality
care while being cost-efficient for the patient. According to Melchert, the
Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality says the PCMH is a model that is
comprehensive, patient- centered, coordinated, accessible, and relies on safety
and quality (Melchert, 2015). I believe that all of these would be benefits
because I feel like the United States lacks health care that is all of those;
however, I understand that many people will say that it could take away from
the insurance market or that it would "make us a communist country".

After reading the article by Melchert, I believe that integrated health care
models provide a more holistic form of care because of the level of
communication and interaction that the professionals have. The article
describes the spectrum of health care models and the major difference is
that level of communication and teamwork that the professionals have, and
by a behavioral health professional being part of the team it makes for an
easier flow of treatment and understanding between all parties.

With changes in legislation and an increase in organizations that
encompass the integrated health care model, how has the role of

, behavioral health professionals changed over time?

Hello class and professor,

The history of behavioral health as well as society's views on it is so interesting
to me. We have slowly shifted to be more inclusive and less extreme in
judgement about mental health. In more recent times, as legislation changes
and more places shift to an integrated health care model, professionals in the
field also have to change to be more accommodating and open to different
points of view. There are different ways integrated care can be done, some
examples are TEAMcare, COMPASS, and Collaborative Care, all which are
equally important to provide convenient care for patients (Chen, et al., 2015). I
believe these changes are extremely beneficial because people are able to get
the help for their mental health that they need in a way that is convenient for
them.

Prompt: What are the advantages of a naturalistic observation over a
controlled experiment? Which would you prefer to perform and why?

Hello class and professor,

A naturalistic observation is similar to the action expected in a field study or a
simulation. It occurs when the researcher either goes out into the field or
makes as natural or real-world as possible setting and leaves the participants
to their own devices while observing how the interactions work together
(Gravetter & Forzano, 2019). Some advantages include the increased
probability of accuracy for finding out if a variable occurs because of a
specific other variable and that a natural observation can lead to noticing
things that may not be noticed in a controlled experiment (Gravetter &
