Week 7 Discussion: Midweek Comprehension Questions
As mentioned in the lesson, for the healthcare professional to be an effective patient advocate,
he or she must understand how information technology affects the patient and the subsequent
delivery of care. Continue to reflect upon what does this statement means to you and your
responsibilities as a future APN. Provide a brief response (100 words or less)

Answer:
Technology has become a big part of healthcare and in order to advocate properly for the
patient, the healthcare provider must be knowledgeable on current technology, how to use
them as well as, educate the patient on them. They have many benefits for patients and help to
improve their understanding and quality of care. Without us educating patients on the many
benefits of telehealth there’s no way of them knowing so it’s our responsibility to empower
them with these tools. This will benefit both practitioners and patients and improve healthcare
for all.

does this statement means to you and your responsibilities as
a future APN. Provide a brief response (100 words or less)

Answer:
This statement directly impacts the crucial role of understanding and leveraging
information technology in my future role as an Advanced Practice Nurse (APN). As a
future APN, it's my responsibility to grasp how information technology influences
patients' healthcare experiences and care delivery. This involves staying up to date on
electronic health records, telemedicine, data analytics, and patient portals to ensure
seamless communication, data-driven decision- making, and patient engagement.
Being tech-savvy will enable me to advocate for patient- centered, efficient, and safe
care, while also safeguarding patient privacy and security in the, modern, digital age.
