Week 8 Reflection
In class NR579: Palliative Care in Adult-Gerontology Across the Spectrum
I have a new understanding of active listening, communication, collaboration, advocating, nurse-
patient relationships, and evidence-based research. This reflection will discuss how I have met
the advanced level in nursing education competencies of MSN program outcome 5, American

Practitioner Faculties (NONPF): Integrating ethical principles.

communication, empathy, and truth in providing trusting patient relationships (Varkey,
2021). I used the highest level of evidence-based research in diagnosing, treating, and
managing patient's health conditions (Varkey, 2021). Allowing me to collaborate with other
healthcare and community disciplines to reach improved health outcomes for my patients

AACN Essential Domain 6.1

patients, and their families. I used nursing knowledge and experience to administer and
implement the patient and family's preferences and goals (Varkey, 2021). During my clinical
practicum, a terminally ill patient required hospice services to increase their quality of life. This
