Week Three Quiz Summary
 Specifiers are to be used after a 1-year duration of the disorder and if they are not in

remission.

 Schizophrenia diagnostic criteria include two or more of the following, each present for a
significant portion of time during a one-month period- 1) delusions, hallucinations, disorganized
speech, grossly disorganized or catatonic behavior, negative symptoms 2) disturbance in level of
functioning at work, in personal relationships or self-care 3) continuous signs of disturbance
lasting for a minimum of6 months.
 Catatonia criteria includes 12 distinct clinical signs and symptom which include stupor,
cataplexy, waxy flexibility, mutism, negativism, posturing, mannerism, stereotypy, agitation,
grimacing, echolalia, and echopraxia.
 The Brief Psychiatric Rating Scale may be used to assess clients who present with symptoms of
psychosis. The Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale (PANSS) is a clinician-rated tool to
identify and differentiate the presence of positive and negative symptoms of psychosis.
 With a normal baseline ANC, the CBC should be monitored weekly for 6 months, every 2
weeks for months 6-12, and monthly thereafter (Clozapine REMS, 2021).
