Hi everyone!

Upon completing the adapt, I have a better understanding when it comes to dietary
carbohydrates, water, and wellness. When it comes to carbohydrates are essential for the human
body in order to maintain our health; this includes sugar, starches, fiber, and plant base sources.
These carbohydrates give our body energy so that we can function throughout the day. Water is
very important for our body and as we know it is made up of about 50-75% water and is found
in muscle, fat, bones, and our blood. When we sweat, urinate, defecate and respiration we lose
water. I never though of it this way of losing water, it was insightful to learn this.

I learned this week the recommended amount for carbohydrate intake, “it is recommended that
healthy individuals consume 45–56% of their daily calories from carbohydrates. Healthy
Carbohydrates. Based on a 2,000-calorie diet, 900–1,300 calories should come from
carbohydrates. The recommended daily allowance for carbohydrates is about 130 grams per day.
Carbohydrates give the body approximately 4 calories per gram” Institute of Medicine. (2000).
