Follow these guidelines when completing each component of the Collaboration Café. Contact
your course faculty if you have questions.
General Instructions
Electronic health records (EHRs) provide a database for an individual’s healthcare data during
healthcare encounters and the ability to exchange health information electronically. Consider an
EHR with which you have had experience.
Include the following sections:
1. Application of Course Knowledge: Answer all questions/criteria with explanations and
detail.
Identify one EHR with which you have experience. Provide the name of the system and
the practice environment in which it was used.
Describe three key features of the system that supported positive client or organizational
outcomes.
Describe one concern with the system specific to the organization. Discuss the impact of
the concern and how it can be addressed.
Answer:
Electronic health record (EHR) has taken the place of paper charting, which contains all the
information needed of the patient. All of the healthcare professionals now use EHR on the daily
basis while providing care or to complete their assessments, documentation and also to
communicate effectively. One of the most popular EHR system that I have experienced with is
the “EPIC System.” Epic is among the 5 leading EHR providers and is most adopted EHR
system across the globe (Chishtie et al., 2023).
Key Features and Supporting positive clients or outcomes
1. Clinically: Epic software facilitates patient information, clinical documentations, orders
and results with other healthcare professionals. It also offers decision support tools, alerts
and reminders in aid with patient care.
1. Revenue Cycle: For healthcare management, Epic system can help organize and manage
their financial operations and includes features for billing, claims managements, and
payment processing. By this feature, it not increases the revenue of the organizations but
also reduces administrative workload and costs.
2. Patient portal: This feature not only empowers patients to access their own health
information but also be able to engage with their healthcare providers and be able to
communicate with any questions and/or concerns regarding their health. This really
improves patient satisfactions and quality of care.
