Dr. Distler and classmates,

I have worked for Advent Health North Pinellas for eight years and love what they stand for.
Their mission is "Extending the Healing Ministry of Christ." They believe health should be
measured in terms of the whole person's body, mind, and spirit. They promise to help people feel
whole through compassionate care and world-class expertise. Their vision is to provide wholistic
care to help people feel whole, exceptional care at every step, connecting people to the care they
need, dedicated to delivering access to affordable care, and innovative, viable care that adapts to
people's needs. Their values include Quality and Service Excellence, Community and Wellbeing,
High Ethical Standards, Stewardship, and Inclusiveness. As for the behaviors of leaders in the
organization, they ensure that the mission of “Extending the Healing Ministry of Christ” is
delivered through the whole person care they provide. I have seen all of these performed daily
throughout the hospital. I have been a patient here once and felt that all who cared for me did it
with these principles in mind.

Regarding congruence with nursing core values, the mission, vision, and values of Advent
Health North Pinellas align well. Nursing values include providing quality patient care,
developing strong interprofessional and nurse-patient relationships, and respecting human
dignity, integrity, and social justice. These are all reflected in the mission, vision, and values of
Advent Health North Pinellas.

Their mission, vision, and values of “Extending the Healing Ministry of Christ” attracted me to
begin my nursing career there. Being Christ-centered and providing whole-person care are
powerful principles that guide me in my nursing practice and how I want to care for my patients,
their families, and my co-workers, and align with my personal philosophy of nursing.
