Definitions:
A population is a group of individuals of the same
species living in the same geographical area.
A community consists of all the organisms in all
the interacting populations in a given area.
An ecosystem consists of a community of
organisms together with the abiotic factors that
surround an affect it.

The crude population density is determined by dividing the
number of individuals by the area occupied by the organisms.
I.e. Algonquin Park has an area of 800 hectares. Find the
population density of moose, if the population size of moose
is estimated to be 500.
