Literature is used in ESL/EFL classes because it does not only enrich our vocabulary in the English language but it also shows us how to construct words to say. We learn dialogue from it. We also learn how to communicate well and how to share our feelings. Moreover, Literature teaches many things that can be seen in the present and past. It broadens our imagination and we learn how to create by it. 2. What is meant by literary text? A literary text is a story or fictional narrative. It may also contain political beliefs or messages. It could also be in novel or poetic poem. Literary text is a piece of written material such as book or poem, that has the purpose of telling a story or entertaining, as in a fictional novel. 3. Differentiate aesthetic reading and non-aesthetic reading. Aesthetic reading happens when a reader is so engaged in the text that he becomes caught up in the world offered by an author and translated by the reader. In aesthetic reading, the reader’s attention is centered directly on what he likes through during his relationship with that particular text. Meanwhile, non-aesthetic reading “takes away” particular bits of information.
