, Introduction/case study
A 47-year-old female presented with unilateral shoulder complains. She is
known to have adhesive capsulitis. On examination you find out that she
has stiffness on all movements. You think that specific physiotherapeutic
treatment would help to relieve the joint symptoms in several sessions but
have read in the literature recently that the use of corticosteroids may be
more effective.
Research question
In patients with Frozen shoulder how does physiotherapeutic treatment
compared to steroid injections (corticosteroids) affect the patients pain
modulation
PICO Subject MeSH-term
Patient Frozen Shoulder adhesive capsulitis, Joint stiffness, Idiopathic
shoulder stiffness, idiopathic adhesive capsulitis
Interventi physical physiotherapeutic treatment, Physiotherapy,
on therapeutic exercise therapy,
treatment
Comparis Corticosteroids Steroid injections, ORAL corticosteroids,
on
Outcome Pain Pain modulation, VAS, SPADI
Table (1): PICO format and MeSH-terms
