Week 2 Assignment journal Chamberlain University college of nursing Philosophy: Critical reasoning November 7, 2023 The most valuable and important idea in this section is the statement there is a way to ask “why” in ever language. The question why is how people makes sense of the world. It is universal way of connecting with and understanding one another. The question “why” is where lOMoARcPSD| critical thinking begins. When a person ask why they are seeking to understand and to gain knowledge of an idea or concept. After asking the question why, an argument can be constructed based on the answer given. When an argument is constructed, a person begins to reason. The main purpose of chapter 5 is to explain how an argument is formed and to understand how to develop reasoning and analytical skills. Without asking why, an argument or claim would never be developed. Some concepts discussed in chapter 4 that might make analysis of a statement difficult are interpretation and context, vagueness and ambiguity, and language. These concepts make it difficult to understand because they can change meanings depending on the scenario. To understand the purpose of a statement, the context must first be understood. If something is taking out of context, it loses its original meaning and the person analyzing can make a judgement base on wrong information. Similarly, if a statement is vague or ambiguous it can have more than one meaning. This can be confusing and cause a misinterpretation of then statements meaning. Language can also make analysis of a statement difficult. Not understanding the language or meaning of words can make hard to understand what the statement is trying to convey.
