Subject: Road Repairs and General Roadworks on R30 Highway
Dear Community Members,
I write this memorandum to address the concerns raised by the community regarding the poor
condition of the R30 highway. We acknowledge the significant impact it has on road safety, with an
increasing number of accidents and tragic loss of lives. Our thoughts and condolences go out to the
families who have lost loved ones, and we extend our support to those who have suffered injuries
and emotional trauma due to accidents involving their cars.
The Bodikela municipality is committed to taking action and addressing this urgent matter. Our
dedicated team, in collaboration with the Road Fund Claims and car insurance companies, is working
tirelessly to expedite all relevant claims. We aim to minimize any delays and provide necessary
assistance for the benefit of the community.
I am pleased to inform you that the management council of the Bodikela municipality has approved
a budget of R10 million specifically allocated to repairing the potholes on the R30 highway. The
repair work is scheduled to commence on 01 June 2023 and continue until 29 June 2023, spanning a
period of four weeks (1 month). During this time, sections of the road will be partially closed to
facilitate the repairs.
To ensure the smooth flow of traffic and to assist those who are unable to use alternative routes,
the Bodikela Metropolice Department will be actively present during morning and afternoon hours
throughout the four-week period. Their visible presence will provide traffic management and ensure
public safety.
We understand the importance of effective communication throughout this process. Therefore, we
will disseminate further updates through community radio stations, local newspapers, and SMS
messages. We are committed to keeping you informed and engaged every step of the way.
