Involvement in pleasurable activities that have high potential for negative consequences Hypomanic Episode - -A distinct period of persistently and abnormally elevated, expansive, or irritable mood that lasts for at least 4 days and is accompanied by at least 3 Manic episode symptoms. The episode represents a clear change in mood and functioning but does not require hospitalization and there is an absence of psychotic symptoms Mixed Episode - -Lasts for one week and involves rapidly alternating symptoms of manic and major depressive episodes. It causes marked impairment, may require hospitalization and may include psychotic symptoms Major Depressive Disorder - -Diagnosed in the presence of one or more Major Depressive Episodes without a history of Manic, Hypomanic, or Mixed Episodes.
