Since I grow up in Hong Kong, we have few TV programs and broadcasts. The
well-known TV network is called TVB. I liked the children show a lot. When Ken
was talking about the similarity of TV show with other professors, I remember
everyone knew what TVB children show I was discussing. TVB is a company,
however, in recent year, the shows and news more tend to be supportive in
government stand such as selecting the news and contact when it broadcasts to the
public. Even there are other TV programs by other companies, the influential power
of TVB is stronger. People who only watch TV for news are willing to trust the news
without critical thinking. The idea of propaganda is spreading over the world. Even
Hong Kong is a small city, there are certain images and identities that the government
wants to present. While we are accepting the contact, we need to step back and think
about the information. Studying communication especially in this course, all lectures
are refreshing the perspective of world. By understanding how the society runs with
power, every choice I made may cause great changes.
