✓ On this page, show what you would write on the white board during the presentation stage, including: example sentences, timeline,
form and function.
✓ Be realistic about how much you could put on the board during the lesson, and how much students would be able read and take notes
on.
Written before the students arrive:
• If it rains tomorrow
• If my car breaks down
• If I fall asleep in class
• If I lose my wallet
• If I don’t wake up on time
Students write their own examples:
If I fall asleep in class, I will be in trouble
If I become a millionaire, I will buy the moon
If I get a new TV, I will watch all the time
If it rains tomorrow, I will wear my rain boots
Write: First Conditional
Go over the sentences with students, make grammar changes if needed.
Explain the difference in probability, and, under “first conditional” write
“Used for talking about realistic possibilities and events in the future”
Form
Explain and elicit the form idea from students. Check to make sure they understand the use of present simple and future simple in the same
sentence.
Write: If subject + present simple, subject + future simple
