, 1. The process of integration
• The process of integration reverses the process of
differentiation. In differentiation, if 𝑓𝑓 𝑥𝑥 = 2𝑥𝑥 2 then
𝑓𝑓 ′ 𝑥𝑥 = 4𝑥𝑥 . Thus the integration of 4𝑥𝑥 is 2𝑥𝑥 2 , i.e.
integration is the process of moving from 𝑓𝑓 ′ 𝑥𝑥 to 𝑓𝑓 𝑥𝑥 .
By similar reasoning, the integral of 2𝑡𝑡 is 𝑡𝑡 2 .
