Counselor (You): Hi Deon, it’s good to see you today. How have
you been feeling since our last session?
Deon: Honestly… not great. I’ve been feeling kind of stuck and
anxious all the time.
Counselor: I hear you. That sounds really heavy, feeling stuck and
anxious. Can you tell me more about what that looks like day-to-
day?
Deon: Well… I have trouble sleeping, and I keep worrying about
failing my classes. I feel exhausted but can’t calm my mind.
Counselor: So you’re feeling physically drained and mentally
overwhelmed. That must be exhausting.
Deon: Yeah… I just feel like I can’t focus on anything, and then I
beat myself up for it.
Counselor: That sounds like a lot of pressure you’re putting on
yourself. It makes sense you’d feel anxious with all that going on.
Deon: I just don’t know how to stop it.
Counselor: One thing we can work on is identifying those
moments when anxiety spikes and finding strategies to manage
them. Have you noticed any particular triggers or patterns in your
anxiety?
