You are working for an energy company and asked you to investigate different types of energy and their
conversions.
Task 1
Describe the energy transfers that occur when the following sources are used to provide
the energy to our homes.
Solar power
Coal
Wind power
Tidal power
Nuclear power

Carry out an investigation into determine the calorific (energy) value of different fuel. You will be provided with
methanol, ethanol, propanol and butanol. Follow the task sheet provided complete the result sheet given (see
attached).
Using the equation Q = mC∆T , calculate the energy given by 1 mole of the fuel.
