An organization should act ethically by taking responsibility for the impact of its actions on its
shareholders, consumers, employees, community, environment, and suppliers. CSR is
important because it helps companies be responsible, sustainable, and successful in the long
run.
Why is fostering corporate social responsibility and good business ethics
important? What is one way an organization can improve their business ethics?
Fostering corporate social responsibility and good business ethics is crucial as it builds
trust, promotes a positive reputation, reduces risk, and improves employee morale. One
way to improve business ethics is to establish a Code of Conduct, outlining the company's
values and principles for ethical behavior. This code should be communicated to all
employees, with training provided to ensure everyone understands what's expected of
them, setting a strong ethical tone and guiding decision-making.
Identify one way you include ethical considerations in your own decision making.
I include ethical considerations in my decision making by asking myself "How will
this decision affect others?" and considering the potential impact on people. This
helps me make choices that are not only good for me, but also good for others and
the world around me.
Why should a business appoint a corporate ethics officer? (p. 18)
A business should appoint a corporate ethics officer because it's like having a "moral
compass" who makes sure the company is doing the right thing, even when no one is
watching. They help ensure the company is honest, fair, and responsible, which builds
trust with customers, employees, and the community.

about the purpose of an organization, its values, and the principles that should guide its

If a manager is super focused on getting results no matter what, and doesn't care how
employees get them, it can make employees feel like they have to cheat to succeed.
Also, if a manager doesn't punish employees when they do something unethical, it can
make them think it's okay to be unethical and get away with it.

It is not unusual for powerful, highly successful individuals to fail to act in morally appropriate
ways as such people are often aggressive in striving for what they want and are used to
having privileged access to information, people, and other resources. Furthermore, their
success often inflates their belief that they have the ability and the right to manipulate the
outcome of any situation.
Module 2 Ethics for IT Workers and IT Users
What is the Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA) and BSA responsible for
(p.46)?
The Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA) and the BSA | The Software Alliance
are trade groups that represent the world’s largest software and hardware manufacturers. Part
of their mission is to stop the unauthorized copying of software produced by its members. SIIA
focuses on promoting the software industry's interests and providing resources to its
members, while BSA concentrates on protecting intellectual property and combating software
piracy.

Trade secret : Information, generally unknown to the public, that a company has taken
