Introduction.
While people with autism are now being embraced within the community, more
importance has been placed on preparing them for workplaces. There is nothing wrong with
people on the autism spectrum, and everybody has something to bring to the table. With
proper help, they should be able to find good jobs and be happy doing them. In the case of
autistic people, such preparation includes approaches that focus on their abilities and offer
means to address possible difficulties. In this subtheme, we discuss strategies to support
autistic adults in gaining employment in the workplace.
1. Identifying Strengths and Interests
The first step towards building a workforce readiness of autistic people involves
identifying their potential and passion. In general, many people with autism have some
strengths, such as excellent visual perception, good memory, or pattern recognition, which are
essential in, for example, the analysis of data, quality control, and IT. Seeing these skills makes
it possible for professionals to ensure that people are placed where they are most likely to work
