“My right knee hurts when I walk.”
History of Present Illness (HPI)
An 83-year-old female presenting with gradually worsening right knee
pain over the past two months. She describes the pain as a dull, aching
discomfort localized to the medial aspect of her right knee. The pain is
non-radiating, aggravated by walking, climbing stairs, or prolonged
standing, and relieved with rest.
She reports morning stiffness lasting less than 30 minutes, which
improves with light activity. There is mild swelling in the evenings but
no redness, warmth, fever, or trauma. The pain has caused her to use
a cane and has led to decreased mobility and independence in daily
tasks.
She denies fatigue, malaise, weight loss, or systemic symptoms.
