1.1 Issues that might affect working couples:
Less opportunities for career growth when employers employ woman with
children due to stereotyping.
Working couples children are restricted in their career paths
Women mostly have to limit their career opportunities as they are more willing to
make changes for their family responsibilities than men.
Taking the next few points into consideration working couples can be
assisted by an organisation to manage a balance between work and family
life:
- Taking a more sensitive approach to the family situation
- Through making partners feel more inclusive when it comes to discussions
- Assisting with relocation should it be necessary and taking spouses into
consideration
- Assist with providing child care
- Through providing resources for work as well as family purposes like computers
etc
- Offering training and development to female employees which can lead to new
opportunities when family responsivities lessen.
- Providing opportunities for more flexible working hours or remote working
- Offering education on how to manage a healthy work life balance
- Creating more options for permanent part-time positions
- Make more alternative career opportunities available
- Implement and share the companies work and family policies including the
stumbling blocks that might be encountered.
