The scientific approach can be applied to decision-making in many different ways. From
using it to gain more information about the subject that you are deciding on to simply trying to
gain more knowledge about a subject before you choose to study it.
One of the most important steps in the scientific method is evaluating past research. This
step in the scientific method will involve you coming back to it multiple times. This will ensure
that the research that you are doing is lining up with the research that has already been done.
Another step in the scientific method that is important is makings sure that you are following all
ethic codes and guidelines through out the experiment. Make sure that you have written consent
from participants and ensure them that they can remove themselves from the experiment at any
point with no consequences.
Confidentiality and anonymity are very important in psychological research, This is due
to the nature of the research being conducted. In psychological research, you can be dealing with
very difficult subjects in a person’s life, such as illegal activity, sexuality, and or traumas
experienced. With this information, you want to assure the participant that their information is
safe and out of harm’s way.
