Complete Solution
A) Analyze
1) An area of strength in the pre-assessment results in multiple-choice using key/signal
words. According to the data given, 85% (17 out of 20) of the students answered the
multiple-choice relating to key/signal words correctly with an overall class proficiency of
85%.
2) A potential problem area was shown in constructed responses of the solution according
to the data given. Only 15% (or 3 out of 20 students) showed proficiency. Therefore, the
class as a whole was not proficient in this area.
B) I would adjust the anticipatory set to focus more on correctly forming a constructed
response for the problem and solution. Since the class had such a low proficiency rate as a
whole, I would model on the smartboard as a class discussion on how to construct a
response for the solution.
C) Informal Formative Assessment – Analyze
1) The students kept their proficiency high in key/signal words remaining at 85%
proficiency (17 out of 20 students). Overall, the class was proficient in this area. Of the 3
students not yet proficient, one is an EL student and 2 others are general ed.
2) A problem area the class had was identifying the solution. The class had an overall
proficiency of 55% (11 out of 20 students) in identifying solutions. Therefore, the class is
approaching proficiency but not proficient yet. Of the 9 students not yet proficient, 2 are
SD, 6 are general ed and 1 is an EL student.
D) The class as a whole:
The class has shown growth in all areas. Key / signal words remained high showing a growth
of 10% overall. From 15 out of 20 students correctly answered the preassessment 17 out of
20 students answered the formative assessment. The class has shown a 40% growth in
identifying the problem. Only 6 out of 20 students answered the preassessment correctly
but 15 out of 2- students answered the formative assessment correctly. The class also
showed growth in identifying the solution with a growth of 40%. According to the
preassessment, only 15% were proficient but on the formative assessment, the proficiency
rate was 55%.
A student who demonstrated growth is student 2. Student 2 is an EL student identified as
bridging who was approaching proficiency in the preassessment but on the formative
assessment, she was showing growth in all 3 areas.
A student who did not demonstrate growth would be student 10 based on the given
information from the preassessment and formative assessment. According to the
preassessment, student 10 had an overall score of 10% which was not proficient in all areas
and showed no growth after taking the formative assessment.
1) The feedback I would give to the class would be to celebrate the growth that has been
made. I would also inform them that they still had time to grow if they had not or more
time to keep growing if they had shown growth already. I would review the data that
