several physical properties such as volume or mass. In science,
particularly physics and chemistry, particles refer to the minute
building blocks of matter. These include atoms, molecules, and
subatomic particles (e.g., electrons, protons, neutrons).
Particles can be fundamental (like quarks and leptons) or
composite (like protons and neutrons).
b. Atomic model:
An atomic model is a theoretical framework that describes the
structure and behavior of atoms. It helps explain how electrons
are arranged around the nucleus and how atoms interact in
chemical reactions. Over time, various atomic models have
been developed:
 Dalton's model (solid sphere model)
 Thomson’s model (plum pudding)
 Rutherford’s model (nucleus with orbiting electrons)
 Bohr’s model (electrons in defined orbits)
 Quantum mechanical model (electron clouds and
probabilities)
c. Subatomic:
The term subatomic refers to anything smaller than an atom.
