Responding to stimuli
● Plants cannot “move”, but will still respond to stimuli, and act correspondingly
○ E.g.: plant shoot gradually turns towards sunlight
● Tropism (向性) (directional growth responses)
○ ***Definition: directional responses made by plants involving changes in
growth rates of plant tissues
○ These growth responses enable plant organs (e.g.: root/shoot) to grow
towards (positive tropism)/away from (negative tropism) direction of stimulus
