As health care professionals increasingly focus on enhancing the patient experience,
hospitals and clinics are evolving their approach to engagement. A Bain & Co. study found that
“65% of health care consumers expect a more convenient experience, while the American
Academy of Physician Associates found that the same percentage of consumers say coordinating
and managing health care is overwhelming and time-consuming” (Abramovich, 2025).
Likewise, according to Lampadaridou (2025), studies suggest that the global telehealth
market will be valued at over 175.5 billion dollars by 2026.
Ever since the COVID-19 pandemic, patients have sought convenience and accessibility.
As a result, providers have begun adopting telehealth services at a lightning-fast speed.
Telehealth technology has allowed providers to remotely assess, diagnose, and treat patients,
eliminating barriers to effective patient care. This results in seamless, more efficient, cost-
effective services focused on more patient-centered care.
Additionally, the stress of the pandemic has hurt the nursing profession as a whole,
resulting in many nurses abandoning the profession entirely due to burnout or enticement to
travel to other locations for higher salaries, resulting in facilities having their nursing staff
stretched thin, ultimately lowering patient care.
The pandemic has magnified the nursing shortage, escalating stress levels, reducing job
satisfaction, and prompting many nurses to abandon the job altogether. A March 2022 survey by
the American Nurses Foundation and the American Nurses Association found that “52% of
