Question 1
1. Read the given scenarios below and indicate whether in each
scenario the teacher acted in a professional manner or not?
Give three reasons for each scenario to support your stance.
(44)
Your response should be at most 500 words .
In Scenario 1, I feel it goes both ways. The teacher did act in a
professional manner because she discovered that she did not
cover most of the questions in the common test. So the teacher
wants to help the students, but mainly it is her fault because she
had to cover the work based on the questions asked in the
common test. In that way, I feel the teacher did not act
professional. Everyone writes the same common test and now she
sets her own, so her student will fall behind with their work and
will not be on the same level as all the other students. It is also
unfair because she might set hers more easy than the common
test so her students might do better or the other way around.
In Scenario 2, I feel the teacher did act in a professional manner. The students have
to pay attention when instructions for a assessment, is given to them. The teacher wastes
so much time by repeating herself for only one student that does not pay attention. The
student should rather leave the class if they are interupting the class full of students that
actullay want to pay attention. but i also feel she did not act professional, because she
could of have a bit more pacients wit the student that is hiperactive. She could also use
other methods to keep the hiperactive student’s attention.
In Scenario 3, I feel the teacher did not act professional. He can not use the school email
for his personal use. If he wants to contact students, he should do if via SMS or his own
email address. He is the maths teacher. It is his job to make sure he gets the learners
through. He also gets paid by the school. He can’t ask for any money, if it is his students
that want extra class. He can give them an extra class at no cost, but it will take his time. If
the teacher was giving an extra class to other students in another grade/school, it would
have been acceptable.
In Scenario 4, I feel the way that the teacher just ignores the situation after being aware of
it is unacceptable. Students should be treated equally. A student should feel safe at school
knowing someone will protect them, but the teacher did nothing and just left it. At the end
of the day it will only make the situation worse, because the problem will only get bigger
and bigger. A teacher should handle or stop a situation that is brought to their attention.

Question 2
Discuss the challenges your experienced while studying BPT1501
through an online environment. (27)
Your response should be at most 350 words
I feel Communication is one of the most important challenges that I
experienced while studying online and the module BPT1501.
There are 3 types of communications that I experienced:
- Verbal: is when lecturers upload videos, it may require a lot of
data if you are viewing them.
- Non-verbal: to read the notes that the lecturers provide for you
may take a lot of time to read them trough and sometimes you
might even not understand so you read them more than once.
- Human interaction: I found it difficult to adapt to interpersonal
interaction, in school there was someone that always explained
everything and now it is all your own work and responsibility.
Sometimes the cost of hardware and software could be so much as
some courses may require a specific software and hardware to study.
To understand the feedback that is in an online context and virtual
could be difficult. Feedback from lecturers on a specific topic can also
take a lot of time as you will not have a response in 24h. Most of the
response that you receive is an automatic response where there is no
point on replying.
Study material that includes items such as videos, e-books and reading
may require a lot of data and time.
You must be committed if studying online. If you are not you might fall
behind and don’t get the chance to finish in time.
