Enzymes
👉 active site = A reason on an enzyme where it binds to a protein or other
substnace during a reaction!
👉 Optimum temperature = The optimum temperature is the temp that the
enzyme works best in!
Observing a color change —> Qualitative observation
For the time recorded —> Quantitative observation
Kinetic energy is generally related to temperature and high temperature means
high kinetic energy. Even during an enzymes optimum temperature, the kinetic
energy could still not be at its highest if there is a higher temperature, even if
the enzyme has denatured.
What causes the shape of the enzyme’s active site to change?
Boiling the enzyme / high temperature
Enzymes generally work best in optimum temperature (which is usuallly
body temperature for humans)
Break the bonds holding the shape.
When the temperature gets too high, the enzymes denatures and the
enzyme loses its shape. The shape of the active site can’t bind with the
substrate anyore.
