Workforce Planning
A. Write a workforce planning summary by doing the following:
1. Using the information in the “Organizational Memo on
Proposed Hiring Plan” supporting document, recommend
one approach to
successfully address the labor shortage and meet the
CEO’s request, considering the organization’s need to hire
more computer programmers and senior programmers.
The one approach I have chosen to address labor shortages is by offering
this new position to internal employees first as an advancement
opportunity. There has been a lack of advancement opportunities in the
past causing employee dissatisfaction. By offering this to our valued
workers first will ensure retention. Then we can back fill their previous
positions, which should be more entry level, therefore will have a larger
applicant pool.
The CEO values the strong teamwork that comes from in person work,
which means we should try to steer away from remote work even though
that would expand our applicant pool. So, I think focusing on internal
promotions first will help us fill the new positions (senior programmers),
then the positions (computer programmers) with less qualifications will
be quicker to fill because a larger population will qualify.


2. Explain one way the organization can incorporate job
enlargement or job enrichment in the computer
programmer position, using the “Organizational Memo on
Proposed Hiring Plan” and “Pruhart Tech Job Descriptions”
supporting documents.
Some of the current employees who are computer programmers complain
that their jobs are becoming too monotonous. The way we want to
implement job enrichment is by including them on new and upcoming
tech projects to put variety into their work. It will also challenge the
employees, which will keep them busy and not bored. On new projects
they will be able to be creative by designing, writing, and analyzing
codes for new programs. They will also need to collaborate with
engineering, security, quality, and design teams to ensure the final
product is exactly what the customer needs and wants.

B. Create a plan to conduct a job analysis for the new senior
programmer position by doing the following:
1. Explain one type of information you will need to collect
during the job analysis that is relevant to the senior
programmer position.
“The goal for any type of job analysis is basically the same – to examine a job
and its worth in the context of current and projected work needs as
determined by the organization.” (Picardi, 2019).
The one type of information I will need to collect during the job analysis that
is relevant to the senior programmer position is “Determine
appropriate information sources and collect job related data”.
