MAPPING AND TOUR PLANNING
How do distance indicators on a map help tourists?
1. Distance indicators are usually indicated by a symbol on a road map. Russia uses nine (9)
2. Distance indicators show the distance between towns. time zones
3. These distances are indicated to the left or right of the road between
towns.
Example: From Noupoort to Carlton = 11 km From Carlton to Middelburg = 29 km From
Middelburg to Rosmead = 9 km
4. Distance indicators can also help determine how long it will take to travel between two
destinations if you are traveling at 100 km per hour.
5. For tourism purposes, it will take about 1 hour to travel 100 km, considering traffic, road works,
etc.
