Description of the Curriculum
I will evaluate the curriculum I-Ready Classroom Mathematics, created by Curriculum
Associates. The content area I will be evaluating is fourth grade, with a core focus on math. My
goal for this content is that 60% of my students will be able to successfully pass 2 out of the 4
year-long units at an approaching grade level.
Context: Need or Problem
My school district needed a curriculum that could be used at home, within the school, and
for families of multiple languages. Our school district website stated, "I-Ready shared helpful
support tutorials and videos to help families understand what the Diagnostic is and how they
should/should not support their student in English or Spanish” (Allen, 2020). My school district's
problem is that many students are not performing at grade level or are even approaching grade
, level. This was due to inconsistent teaching practices and not overall grade-level teaching
methods. This caused students to enter the following year expecting to be taught the same thing
or have the same skill set as the other students within that grade level, but this would not occur
due to all teachers teaching differently with different skill sets. The goal will be that 75% of
students will be approaching and on grade level by the end of the school year.
Input: Curriculum Components
The components provided by the curriculum to help reach this goal are the I-Ready
learning games that make learning fun. Within the application, Fluency Flight works on students’
base 10 addition and subtraction facts and their multiplication facts within 12. This growth helps
