Why do you want to work as a border patrol agent? - Answer - ✔✔ While completing my
internships with the ATF and the JPD, I was able to conceptualize the risk that an
unsecure border poses to our nation's security. International border crossings present a
gateway for potential illegal immigration, drug smuggling, weapon trafficking and
sometimes even terriosm. Rather than addressing the issues that are caused as a result
of illegal imigration, I would like to serve and protect at the forefront of our nation.
How do you imagine a typical day in this job? - Answer - ✔✔ I imagine as an agent, I
will be actively monitoring an assigned duty location. Throughout the duration of my shift
I would likely patrol on foot, boat, horseback, ATV, or Tahoe. A day in the life of an
agent may also include encounters with illegal immigrants, vehicle searches and
incident report writing.
Imagine the following situation: An unknown person crosses the border and starts
running. You are on foot, they are faster then you. You tell them to freeze but they don't
obey and continue running. Will you shoot them? - Answer - ✔✔ At the end of the day, I
want to join the service to protect US people, and not to kill. However, If I encountered
an incident as such I would certainly refer to procedure. I would first relay a description
of the incident over the radio and request a K9 unit before taking swift action. If the
suspect flees as I attempt to apprehend, I would not shoot as this suspect does not
pose any threat to me nor to the community.

receiving orders from superiors in order to facilitate operations without hesitation.
