Exam Graded A+
99m-Tc Labeled RBC's (UltraTag) - ANSWER-Used in vitro to assess GI bleeding and
for myocardial ventriculography (wall abnormalities as well as ejection fraction)
99m-Tc Medronate (MDP) - ANSWER-used in skeletal imaging and in assessment of
osteomyelitis; adult dosage is 20-35mCi
99m-Tc Mertiatide (MAG3) - ANSWER-is used to evaluate renal function, renal plasma
flow, urinary tract obstruction, split kidney function, renogram curves; adult dosage 5-
10mCi; 0.1mCi/kg pediatric w/ min of 1mCi
99m-Tc Oxidronate (HDP) - ANSWER-used in scanning skeletal structure and
evaluating osteomyelitis; adult dosage is 20-35mCi
99m-Tc Pentetate (DTPA/TechnePlex/TechneScan) - ANSWER-Used to evaluate renal
function including GFR, UT obstruction, split kidney function, and renogram curves; It
can also be used for lung ventilation studies when aerosolized, cardiac first pass studies
for right and left ventricular function as well a brain imaging agent; adult dose is 3-5mCi
for GFR, 10-15mCi for renogram, 30mCi for cardiac studies, 35-75mCi for ventilation
studies; Ca DTPA 1mg + 1-2mCi for CSF studies (caution used with Ca DTPA due to
irreversible blockade nerve conduction when given intrathecally)
99m-Tc Pyrophosphate (PYP/Phosphotec) - ANSWER-can be used to tag RBCs for
blood pool imaging, resting nuclear ventriculography, and to assess GI bleeding and
hemangiomas
99m-Tc Sestamibi (MIBI/Cardiolite/MIRALUMA) - ANSWER-Used to assess myocardial
perfusion, localization of MI, left ventricular ejection fraction, ventricular wall motion,
coronary artery disease; can also be used for detecting hyperparathyroidism and
localization of breast CA
99m-Tc Succimer (DMSA) - ANSWER-Used to evaluate parenchymal disorders
including renal scarring; adult dose is 3-5mCi; pediatric 0.5mCi/kg
99m-Tc Sulfur Colloid (Pharmalucence) - ANSWER-evaluation of liver and spleen (1-
8mCi); bone marrow (3-12mCi); gastroesophageal motility (150-300uCi orally);
pulmonary aspiration (300-500uCi orally); LeVeen shunts (1-3mCi intraperitoneal),
lymphoscintigraphy (0.4-1mCi) and profuse GI bleeding (10mCi)
99m-Tc-Bicisate ECD (Neurolite) - ANSWER-can be used as an adjunct to MRI or CT
scanning to determine conditions of the brain; dose is 25mCi with a range of 15-30mCi
