There are four major problem areas in sewer construction which can cause future functional problems and

expense: poor pipe sub grade, poor joints, poor water consolidation or mechanical compaction of backfill

Balling a line-The operation of passing an inflated rubber ball, which is slightly less than the diameter of the

pipe, though a sewer line -

House connection sewer- house connection sewers are sometimes referred to as lateral sewer -

Invert- a line on centerline at the inside bottom of a pipe or conduit, also commonly referred to as the flow

Saddle- a connections to a mainline sewer where no wye or tee exists, made by breaking into it and attaching

Soffit- the inside top of a pipe or box-section conduit -

One of the most important elements of excavating for sewer construction is to maintain the specified width
j j j j j j j j j j j j j j j j

Survey procedures are established to set stakes for sewer construction on an offset line at intervals of 25

If excessively wet, soft, spongy, unstable or similarly unsuitable material is encountered at the pipe bedding
