What does Spironolactone act on/ do? When should this be taken? What foods should be
avoided? What drug does this interact with? - ANSWER>>Acts on renal distal tubules -
treats PE, circulatory overload, ascites. Take in the AM. Avoid foods high in K+ (causes
hyperkalemia) ACE Inhibitors - Fatal! Report decreased **UOP to doctor**



Difference b/w HDL and LDL - ANSWER>>LDL - low density lipoprotein ("loser
cholesterol") BAD

HDL - high density lipoprotein "healthy"



What is Rosuvastatin (Crestor)? What should you educate your pt. taking this? -
ANSWER>>HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor.

Report muscle pain and weakness - this could be a sign of rhabdomylosis



Difference b/w Heparin vs. Warfarin. Which has a more stable response? Antidote?
Labs? - ANSWER>>Heparin has a short half-life. Warfarin has a longer half-life.

Warfarin is oral, fewer labs required, less risk for hemorrhage w/less doses. Antidote:
