We have been subconsciously reflecting throughout our life. When confronted
with tasks, we think about our past experiences, what we did well, the mistakes that we
made, and the favourable outcomes that shape the implementation of the present tasks.
While research and theories enhance our practices, self-reflection, values and beliefs play
a vital role in decision–making in nursing practice. If given the ability to select patients’
assignment, I would choose Bernetta Bold, Halley Berry, and Joy Carr as my preferred
patients. In this context, my experience, patient profiles, including their clinical histories,
assumptions, decision-making competencies, social support systems, and the complexity
of nursing intervention required, guided my patient’s selection process. This assignment
allows me to reflect on how my values and beliefs impact my decision-making and
clinical judgment.
