Recite "Invictus" Right Ans - Invictus

By William Ernest Henley

Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years

,Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.

Chi Omega Chapter History Right Ans - THE EARLY BEGINNING

The Chi Omega Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. was chartered
December 15, 1924, in Thomasville, Ga. The Chapter experienced growth and
stability as the roaring 20's ended. The 1930's were a time of despair for a
large number of Americans due to the depression. Chi Omega traveled the
troubled waters virtually unscathed and continued to experience growth. In
1932, Chi Omega relocated to Tallahassee, Florida. During the same year, Chi
Omega was instrumental in establishing the Upsilon Psi Chapter on the
campus of Florida A&M University. As the 1930's ended, Chi Omega was
looking forward to the 1940's with zest and vigor.

THE FORTIES

As the clouds of World War II drew closer, Chi Omega braced itself for the
inevitable challenge. Members of Chi Omega served bravely in the United
States Armed Forces. Due to the war, eligible men for intake into the chapter
were scarce. The Chapter experienced a decline in membership for the first
time in its history. With the ending of the war in 1945, jubilant times again
were upon the United States. Chi Omega shook off its weary war years and
began to grow and prosper with the vitality of a phoenix.

THE FIFTIES

While man began his quest to explore the heavens, Chi Omega was taking an
active role in the development of young black minds through education. Chi
Omega members were role models serving the community and exuding the

, true quality of Omega men. The Chapter continued to experience growth and
expansion in its active membership roster. The Brothers of Chi Omega were
prepared to take on the challenges that were about to occur in the social and
economical fiber of our society.

THE SIXTIES

With the emergence of the 60's, African American citizens began to rise and
object to their second class citizenship which was bestowed upon them since
the 17th ce
