Geo 1310 - Lew Book Q's and
A’s/Distinction Graded
What are the three basic areas of emphasis in physical geography, and what,
generally, do they cover? - -1. Geomorphology (landforms and
physiography)
2. Climatology (climates and weather patterns)
3. Biogeography (flora and fauna distributions)
- What are the differences between small-scale and large-scale maps in
terms of the size of the areas they show and how features on the map will
appear? - -Small-scale maps show much less detail, with many more objects
deleted, than do large-scale maps, which can sometimes show every tree

relationship that a place has with other places, while site characteristics are
the internal geographies of a place.
- What type of location can change as circumstances change? - -Relative
Location
- In general, the closer two places are, the more they will interact; what is
the nearness attraction known as? - -The gravity model (While the fact that
people are less likely to travel far for the same resources that are available
nearby is known as the law of the least effort & is related to the concept of
distance decay).
- What is the difference between climate and weather? Generally speaking?
- -a. Climate is the annual pattern of weather in a place.
