P4: Create SMART targets for the career plan
SMART Short-Term Goals:
Description of SMART objective:
At the end of 2020 I want to have finished my BTEC course. In July I want the BTEC Level 3
diploma in my hand. At the moment I have completed 13 units which mean I have only 5 more
to go. Completing this course will mean I will be able to do a higher education. I need to work
hard to achieve this goal I must complete all units before I go to the internship in January. In the
first year I completed almost all of my units on the distinction level. The units in the second year
got a bit harder so I couldn’t finish all of the Merit and Distinction assignments so I hope to at
least pass all my units. My intentions for this period are to learn as much from my mistakes in
the units I am going to make. I hope to produce high quality work.
Explanation of why this objective is SMART:
Specific: It is specific because I exactly know my goal I want to finish this course by handing in
all my 18 units which I made in the past 3 years and get my diploma in July 2020.
Measurable: The objective is measurable because I already have completed most of the units
and I will work hard to complete all of them.
Realistic: This goal is realistic because I am attending almost every BTEC class so that I don’t
miss any lecture and I can ask questions if I don’t understand something.
Achievable: This goal is achievable for me, because I am already working hard completing the
units so I’m done in time. I am also attending the lessons, taking notes and handing in my
assignments on time.
Time Bound: The time frame for this goal is 5 months within 5 months I need to finish and hand
in all my units so that I can successfully go on my internship and pass my course.
The 2nd short term objective I have is:
Being accepted at a good HBO school in either The Netherlands or Abroad after I have finished
my BTEC Level 3 course in July. Having a good school to learn is important for having a good
career. I need to have a good degree after I have finished my study at the HBO. I can achieve
this objective by working hard and getting good marks for my BTEC and my regular subjects. I
need to have high numbers to be able to go to a good HBO school.
Explanation of why this objective is SMART:
, Specific: This objective is specific because I exactly know what I must do to go to a good HBO
school. I must first finish all my units, get good marks for these units and get high marks for my
other subjects. With all of this I could get a submission into a good HBO school.
Measurable: This objective is measurable because I know I need good marks for my BTEC so I
must put effort in the units I am going to make and try extra hard to get good marks for the
tests I am going to get especially German.
Achievable: This objective is achievable because I am currently attending all my classes and
paying attention to the subjects. We have a different teacher for German, so I think I can get me
mark higher than it was before with paying attention to the lesson the teacher gives the same
goes with all the other subjects.
Realistic: This goal is realistic because I already am trying hard to get high number and putting
in enough effort so I think it is realistic to achieve this goal.
Time bound: this goal is time bounded because I need to have a school next year in August. And
if I want it to be a good school I need to try hard and get good grades and marks.

Description of SMART goal:
One of the medium term goals I have is finding a good job at a good company during the time I
am following the course on a HBO school. This is one of my important medium term goals
because after I am done with the HBO course I want to start my own company. But before that
it is important that I have gained enough experience. I must get a job at a Real Estate agency or
a B2B company so I can learn from their and start my own company I must acquire experience,
several skills and knowledge. For example I must acquire product and market knowledge as well
as leadership and sales skills.
Explanation of why this objective is SMART:
Specific: This objective is specific because I know what I must do to get a good job. I must look
into companies that have an open vacancy on which I can apply. The company must meet my
demands such as; a company from which I can learn a lot and make good money to cover my
bills. And also I must meet the demands the company is asking for like being qualified for the
job.
Measurable: This objective is measurable because I need to work hard and learn as much
theoretically so I can get a good story for my conversation for the job. Why I think I suit the job.
And I think I have good experience in sales so it will be easier to get a job in that sector.
