Establish a MyExcelsior Account
Create a MyExcelsior account at www.excelsior.edu
Register and Pay
Register online at www.excelsior.edu/examregistration
Sign up for our Exam Payment Plan if you so choose (refer to page 2).
Register online for a corresponding practice examination, if available.
Prepare
Order the study resources you need through Excelsior College.
Take Form A of the practice exam to see what you know.
Study for the exam (refer to page 3).
Take Form B of the practice exam to see what you’ve learned.
Schedule the Exam
Receive your Authorization to Test (ATT) letter on your MyExcelsior message
center within 24 to 48 hours after you register and follow the instructions.
Locate the Pearson VUE Testing Center nearest you, schedule your exam, and take
the online tutorial (www.pearsonvue.com/excelsior). A tutorial will not be available at
the test center.
Pearson VUE will charge a test administration fee when you schedule your
appointment to test. You will pay $50 USD to take two-hour exams and $60 USD
, to take three-hour exams. Additional fees apply for phone transactions (scheduling,
rescheduling, and canceling).
Take the Exam
Follow the requirements for testing in a secure environment, and sit for the exam.

Dear Student,
Congratulations on your decision to study independently to learn what you want or need for your
personal or career growth! You are joining millions of students who have discovered that credit by exam
is a flexible, low-cost option for earning college credit.
By taking and passing our Excelsior College® Examinations and UExcel® exams, you can save up to
90 percent of the cost of taking an equivalent online or in-person course. Moreover, you can schedule
your studying and your examination around your own schedule, working at your own pace, ensuring
that reaching your dream of earning a college degree doesn’t have to come at the expense of your current
job, your family time, or any other commitment in your busy life. Best of all, by completing all or part
of your degree through self-directed study and examination, you demonstrate responsibility, initiative,

learning. We began in 1971 as the Regents External Degree Program of the New York State Education
Department, where we created college proficiency examinations for nontraditional adult learners.
Thirty years later, in 2001, we became a private, independent, nonprofit college — Excelsior College —
but our commitment to the nontraditional adult learner and to credit by exam has not wavered. Since
our start, we have helped more than 164,000 students achieve their dream of earning a college degree;

• Our exams earn actual credit (not credit recommendations) at Excelsior College.
• We have a wide selection of exams to choose from, including over 70 subject area exams in
either lower (associate) or upper (bachelor’s) levels of difficulty.
• Because Excelsior College is a regionally accredited institution, credits are transferable to any school
(subject to their transfer policies).
• Our exams come with a free, downloadable content guide that explains the learning outcomes, the
weighting of sections, and even provides a few sample questions.
• Every operating exam has an optional practice exam available, with two forms, so you can pre-test, see
where you need to study more, then test again prior to taking the operational exam.
• We offer links to free open educational resources (OER) that are available to help deepen your
knowledge of the materials beyond what is found in the textbook (but we highly recommend you
study the textbook first!)
