A folktale is a customary narrative that has been inherited by a culture's ancestors and
typically centres on common people, animals, or otherworldly creatures. The beliefs and
practices of the community from which these stories arise are reflected in them, and they
usually serve to explain natural events, impart moral lessons, or uphold cultural norms.
