The PFT is an annual requirement for:
- Active duty Marines
- Active reserve Marines
- Marines approaching the end of their active service

### Components of the PFT
The PFT comprises three events:
1. Hybrid Pull-Up/Push-Up Test
2. Abdominal Crunch
3. 3-Mile Run

, ### Recommended Order of Events
- The order of PFT events is determined by the commander or officer in charge.
- All three events must be completed within two hours from the start of the first event to the finish of
the last event.

### Rowing Machine Event for Marines 46 or Older
- This event must be performed on a "Concept 2 (C2) machine."
- A rowing ergometer with a Performance Monitor 3 (PM3) or later is required.
### Rowing Machine Event for Marines Younger than 46
- Marines younger than 46 who are recommended by a healthcare practitioner based on medical
conditions can also take the rowing event, subject to approval by the commanding officer (CO).

### Responsibilities of the PFT Monitor
**Monitor Duties:**
- Oversee the administration of the PFT test.
- Supervise events and observe performance.
- Advise participants and report/document results.
**Preparing the PFT Monitor:**
- Select and set up areas for each event.
- Mitigate risks associated with each event using risk management principles.
- Select and train assistant monitors as needed.
- Ensure participants are in proper uniform.
