P1: Explain how networks communicate.

Different types of networks

Networks allow the communication between different devices so data can be
swapped between them. There are different types of networks which include
Local Area Network (LAN), Wide Area Network (WAN), Personal Area
Network (PAN) and Metropolitan Area Network (MAN). These network
types are used to connect devices over a varied amount of distance. The
different network types use either wires, optical fiber cables or wireless links
to connect the devices on the network.

, Topologies

Topologies show the way in
which the network is
connected and the arrangement of
different elements. Below are some of the different topologies which are
used for different purposes due to their advantages and disadvantages.

Star- Every computer connects to the switch using a separate cable.

Bus- Every computer connects to the same large cable which goes to
the switch.
Ring- Every computer connects to each other.
Mesh- A mesh topology can be a complete mesh topology or a mesh
topology partly linked. Each network machine is connected to the
other machines of the network in a complete mesh topology.
Topology tree- A topology tree is a particular sort of structure where
numerous linked components like branches of a tree are arranged. In
a corporate network, for instance, tree topologies are often used to
organize the computs or the information in a database.
Wireless

Unlike Ethernet which is wired in and provides a fixed broadband, Wireless
provides wireless connection which does not require any cables for it to
work. Wireless would be affected on the bandwith on the distance away you
are from the Router its self.

Wireless access point

Wireless Access points is a method of connecting devices up
without the need of wired connection. this can work in a number of
ways for a device to be connected to anything wireless such as Wi-
Fi or Bluetooth.
Switches

, Unlike the Hub, this will only send information to where it’s supposed to go
instead of everyone within the Hub, it uses a full-duplex which can send
information without collision.

This relies on MAC connection.

Mobile base stations

The basic station is linked to an antenna (or a number of antennas) receiving
and transmitting signal on the cellular network. This device is linked to a
mobile switching station which connects mobile telephony calls to the
government telephone (PSTN) network.

Servers

Servers are used to be able to manage its own network in different ways, this
can include File Servers, Print Servers and Database Servers.the target for a
server is to be able to manage files, managing to provide other users their
own network and making sure they are making its own network safe and
secure for all users.

Token Ring
Token ring works very much like the Token Passing method which
is where you will need to connect cables to a piece of hardware that
will allow you and another user to communicate. this method is not
