[15] Question 2: Perspectives/ideologies in labour relations In Activity 1.4 you were required to differentiate between the different perspectives/ideologies/world views on labour relations. Use the table that you had to complete in Activity 1.4, analyse the notice from NUMSA and determine the perspective most likely adopted by NUMSA, highlighting the key characteristics and approaches of the specific perspective. [10] Question 3: Conflict management in the employment relationship Write a narrative report in which you evaluate how conflict is approached by NUMSA, considering the strategies and techniques employed. In your evaluation, you have to distinguish between the concepts of conflict resolution, conflict settlement and conflict management. Assess the effectiveness of the conflict management approach used and its impact on the relationship between the parties and the potential for future conflicts. [10] Note: In this question, you are expected to analyse the conflict management strategies and techniques employed by NUMSA through the notice, assess the effectiveness of those strategies, and consider the impact of the conflict management approach on the relationship between the parties. Question 4 We can assume that NUMSA conducted an environmental analysis to determine the appropriate demands made in the notice. As the representative of the South African Engineers and Founders Association (SAEFA), conduct an external environmental analysis of your own. Write a memo to the Metal and Engineering Industries Bargaining Council (MEIBC) in which you acknowledge the demands made by NUMSA. Based on your environmental analysis, determine whether you either agree/disagree with the demands made by NUMSA and provide reasons for agreeing/disagreeing with the demands made. Draw conclusions and provide a well-reasoned argument based on your analysis. [15] Technical requirements A further 10 marks will be awarded for the layout and technical presentation of your assessment.
