I started smoking when I was 15. I've smoked for a long time. Had
a little success quitting. I stopped for ten years when my daughter
was born. But, I picked up the habit again. I've tried quitting since
my husband died, but . . . it's hard.

I had the bronchospasm three days ago. It happened after I smoked
a cigarette. Normally I cough a little after I smoke, but three days
ago it felt like the coughing just wouldn't stop. I felt like I couldn't
breathe. It scared me pretty bad. Ever since then I can't seem to
catch my breath. (Clarified to when I had a bronchospasm.)

I've tried quitting a bunch of times -- used gum, patches, lozenges,
and nothing stuck. Longest I quit for was 10 years, when I had my
daughter. Started up again when I was 31. Takes so much in you to
stay quit.

Oh, I've been generally fatigued for a long time now. It's got even
worse the past few days ago, around the time of my bronchospasm.

This nasty stuff I'm hacking up when I cough . . . mostly it's clear.
Sometimes it's yellow, or gray, or this dark color. I've never seen
any blood in it. It's kind of . . . thick. It's been that way for about
two weeks.

I get anxious when I can barely breathe. And I don't have a
disorder, but I've been anxious about my health for sure. This
COPD has really messed me up. I really need to quit smoking -- I
just need to do it.
